Education troubles
This chart is one of the scariest I’ve ever seen. But it’s the perfect illustration of what government does: throw money at things.

You see the same thing in healthcare. The hospital where my mom is an RN has as many “Vice President of Paper Clip Management” as it has doctors. Tons of upper management deadweight crowding out budget for people who, you know, actually do work.

Worse, the next phase is when doing actual work, teaching, nursing, etc. is bad for your career. You’ll be told you can’t be promoted because you’ve never managed paper clips.
I was in a sea service where sea duty, past the first tour, was detrimental to your career. Those with lots of time actually out doing the job, just weren’t promotable since they didn’t have hq experience.

I remember grade school. One principal, one secretary, one nurse, one custodian, one music teacher, one art teacher, one gym teacher, one librarian, one K teacher, and two each grade 1-6. Now, still just one principal, two assistants, three secretaries, two counselors, a whole custodial staff, I think 4 teachers each K-5, new stuff we didn’t have, several people I don’t even know what they’re for, etc etc. Stacks of administration all over the place, and all it seems like the kids are learning is which words to tell on each other for saying.
