Re: a 45 ACP carbine that takes 1911 magazines: it’s called the Marlin Camp 45 and it’s been available for some time (only used ones out there now, though). As it came out, it wasn’t very “tommy”, but you can get aftermarket stuff to make it so. There are aftermarket drum magazines, but I use Wilson 11-rounders for mine. The carbine is accurate out to 80 yards, where the bullet trajectory begins to fall off the table. After 120 yards, it’s pretty much worthless.
The 9mm or the .40 S&W are actually better carbine calibers.

never really liked the Marlin “multi-groove”. I like to shoot cast boolets.
