I remember being taught not to flip the cylinder into place when I was a kid about 10 or 11. Revolvers were more common than now, so most people who knew guns were aware of that. A lot of younger people now have shot handguns for years, and never shot a revolver, looking at them as “old-fashioned” and obsolete.

Pretty interesting. Seeing how to properly close and index the cyl. was a learning experience.

Close the cylinder by pushing on the crane, not the cylinder!
Never heard that before, nor have I ever read it anywhere. Thanks!
I look at used pistols frequently at McBride’s Guns in Austin, TX (an awesome shop) and will keep this in mind.

You know who really knew how to look at revolvers? Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez, that’s who. Aah.

Well I always close and index but push on cylinder to do that not the horn so I learned something.
