That survey is confounded. What happened is that Gallup worker kept calling people during football, and each time somebody said “I swear if you call me again I will find you and shoot you in the head”, they marked the household down as owning a gun.

I’d say “assault” is either a crime or an offensive miltiary tactic. Full auto rifles are used for military assault and they’ve been outlawed for the people since 1934, so no, I do not have an “assualt rifle”.
