The realistic drawings are no doubt what the kids see in their minds when drawing. Which is why I used to ask my kids to make up characters for their bedtime stories. We had some weird impromptu stories when they were young.
Mad magazine did a similar gag where they asked a kid to draw what they wanted for Christmas, and they built the toy to the child’s exact specifications.
