TSA stupidity
They remove an 84 year old woman’s back brace, mistaking it for a money belt. Why would they even look at a money belt? Can money take down a plane?

A pair of women’s underwear briefs can take down a plane. How much C4 can be packed in a money belt?
The TSA does not tell us (and rightly so) about explosives sniffers at walk-through security points so we don’t know at what distance they work.

Money belts are just big pockets to hide stuff in. Since you have to empty your pockets, you would have to take off the money belt and run it through the scanner. I would think the likelihood of explosives would be small, but weapons might be a possibility.

Attempting to take large amounts of cash (>$10k I think) without declaring is illegal. They will confiscate it. See this account from Viffer (David Peat – High Stakes poker player)

I’ll bet they don’t remove the chastity belts from Arab potentate’s wives….

Because agents can’t count the money and confiscate it saying no one needs to travel with that amount of cash. Or more importantly the agents would be able to steal some of it.

“A pair of women’s underwear briefs can take down a plane.” Or, like the horseshoe nail, the lack thereof.

Can’t allow the proles to smuggle the State’s money across the border.
