You should try the M&P 45c. I fell in love with it when I was trying to pick a carry gun, recently. Of course, I ended up getting a Kimber. But it IS the 1911’s anniversary. What else could I do?
I’m also leaning heavily on the M&P 9C, but I haven’t fired one to compare it with the full size version. My 1911 keeps feeling like a brick in my pants..
I recently got one and love it. It’s very comfortable to shoot, regarding both recoil and grip. The grip with the little extension is real nice. Love everything about it except loading magazines, those are some tough springs.

I have had a 9c for about 18 months. I LOVE it and carry it almost every day. Sevier Indoor Range in Sevierville has one on their rental program.

I love my M&P 9C. Get a good trigger job on it and some tritium sights and it’s tough to beat.
