Amazon Prime
Via Les, we learn that it loses $11 per year but makes up for it in sales. I’m a fan of amazon prime. For $79 per year, I get free two day shipping, some free video from Amazon movies, and discounted overnight shipping. It paid for itself when I ordered the 100+ pound Primo grill, which I love.

The main reason I don’t have Amazon Prime is that I would then use Amazon for pretty much everything I could.

Kevin, that is exactly why I started using is last month. I’ve also been using the Subscribe and Save feature they have which is great since it cuts down on my trips to WalMart.

I made up my $80 is tons of small purchases instead of one big one.
I build and repair all sorts of one-off equipment and being able to buy a few odd small parts at a moments notice, get them in two days and not get raped on shipping is well worth it.

I wonder how they calculate the average usage. I know last year I used Prime to purchase a 300lb generator and a 100+ bowflex that must have eaten all the shipping costs. Not to mention all the small items I buy.
Amazon’s costs aren’t better on most things, but they are close enough that I’m willing to use them and save that trip to whatever store that would take more time.

I use it extensively for business supplies/tools. The movies and book lending are icing on the cake.

My first order after getting prime was a $250 smoker that other places wanted $80 to ship… I figure I got a good deal.

If only they would sell ammunition…
