News of note
Ron Paul leads in Iowa. I guess it’s his turn to be not-Romney.
Kim Jong Il is dead. Natural causes. I was hoping for lined up against the wall and shot in the neck. But, hey, it’s something. And his son might be even more batty.

The more batty ‘The Respected General’ is the more likely they will get rid of him. China, South Korea, U.S., etc.. will just fix his little red wagon.

Good ol’ Ron Paul has been the anti-Romnulan for three decades. 🙂
His strong showing in Iowa will mean endless news stories about what a ‘2nd place finish’ means to somebody, the Hawkeye Cauci are irrelevant, brrrr it’s cold out somewhere, some pretty white girl is missing in NYC and check out what the Kardasians are wearing! Moving right along! Nothing to see here.
Imagine a minute… If a true Constitutional, small-government hero appeared on the scene, would he be treated any different by media/big gov’t monsters than they already treat Dr. Paul?

I’d bet there was nothing natural about the cause, but we’ll never know for sure. He’d be most vunerable during travel.

“But, hey, it’s something. And his son might be even more batty.”
Third generation inbreeding, I am shooting for drinks own urine direct from the tap….. and actually has eyes in back of his head……

There is nothing more natural than standing a tyrant against a wall and shooting him in the neck. You’ll notice that he died on a train, outside the capitol. We don’t know how he died, we’re just pretty sure that he’s dead. If I were his son, I wouldn’t take any train trips in the near future.

I am all for him being capped, but looking at him, the heart attack theory is probably a safe bet. That guy wasn’t healthy.

If you get shot in the head, you usually die.
Only natural….

right now i’d guess there are two major most-likely-to-happen near futures for North Korea. either the “youth captain” (or somebody willing to do the job he’s groomed for) kowtows to Beijing, accepts Chinese support, and NK ends up being run as a Chinese client state / colony — which could bring stability and possibly even longer-term reforms — or the NK army (such as it is) stages a coup.
somewhat less likely, outright and serious North Korean civil war in a struggle for power until China and South Korea get fed up enough to make a deal and jointly stop the silliness. which would probably mean NK becoming an out-and-out Chinese colony, in the near to middle term.
that kim jong next-in-line could actually step up to the plate and do his dad’s job competently and independently is so far down the list of likelihoods i’m not considering it right now. he might end up a puppet of somebody else homegrown in NK, possibly a general or high party official, and be used as a mere figurehead; but i’d guess the risk of a military coup would be greater, myself.
either way, there’s not going to be any resurgence of the Korean war all-out. China doesn’t want to fight U.S. troops right now, and we don’t want to fight the Chinese either, so Beijing will likely keep it on a proxy-war level at worst. i’m not sure the Chinese would even want to tangle with South Korean troops at the moment — they’d win, so long as the USA stayed out of it, but i doubt they’d think the price worthwhile. (plus, of course, so long as we have troops in the country we wouldn’t stay out of it. Beijing is just not going there.)

All y’all overlooked the most likely scenario: the young “un” likes basketball. Obama likes basketball. There will be immediate peace overtures from the USA involving a basketball team exchange, leading to the Norks fielding an NBA team, which the Clippers will actually beat…and after the beat-down, THEN there will be war, but first, a little roundball madness NOT related to the NCAA.
Other thought: The train crew is dead, the train probably “crashed”, burned up and there is no evidence.

I want it to be in the official record that did NOT bite on the ‘Notes of Newt’ hook.

If Paul wins in Iowa, the major media pundits will be talking about what 2nd, 3rd, 4th and maybe even 5th means to the campaigns of the “top tier”.

Rule change:
“The Ron Paul people are not going to like my saying this, But to a certain degree, it will discredit the Iowa caucuses because, rightly or wrongly, I think most of the Republican establishment thinks he’s not going to end up as the nominee. So therefore, Iowa won’t count.” –Chris Wallace, Fox News
