Sons of Guns

Been hearing the rumors for a few days, due to some facebook feuding but nothing confirmed. Now, it looks like Red Jacket did lose their Federal Firearms License for minor violations. They are the stars of the show Sons of Guns.

  1. Anonymous Insider Says:

Considering the Byzantine nature of ATF regulations, any gun shop that puts its day-to-day affairs on national TV is courting disaster.

Like any heavily federally-regulated business, there is practically NO WAY to ensure 100% compliance with every regulation and administrative ruling. Anybody who has worked with, say, the FAA or FCC knows of which I speak. Anybody who claims differently is a liar or does such a small volume of business, and as the sole proprietor and employee at that, that they can exercise perfect QC over the entire operation.

American Guns > Sons of Guns…way better they even speak in complete sentences.

  3. Mad Saint Jack Says:

Wonder if this will play out on tv…
Would not mind a few million people seeing the atf being @ssholes

  4. Shamandin Says:

Evidently, it happened a couple years back. It would go a long way towards explaining why, even though it’s supposedly his shop, you never actually see Will or Stephanie do anything to a weapon, except fire it on the range or out in the middle of nowhere. All the actual gunsmithing work is done by the other members of the shop.

  5. mmasse Says:

Perhaps they lost that Deagle/Beretta Will’s daughter fired

  6. Molon Labe Says:

I agree with Randy. American Guns is much better. And w/ eye candy.

Not to mention the whole flying in a chopper to deliver/buy guns.

  7. Bryan S. Says:

Dont you love how the shop can be penalized by loosing the ffl, but they “sell” it to another person and everything is AOK with the same people running it?

Why even have FFLs in the first place?

  8. TIM Says:

This is pretty funny.I wonder how they kept this under raps so long it says they made a deal in 2010 and just now seeing it on the boards.

  9. Nylarthotep Says:

10 guns unaccounted for is “minor violations?” Guess I don’t understand what scale you’re working on.

  10. Kristopher Says:

    Nylarthotep:

Depends on the volume and shop size.

When Cabelas announced to their employees they were doing a full gun audit with the help of the BATFE, dozens of well used pieces of formerly new inventory just magically walked back into their stores.

  11. divemedic Says:

The ATF lost 1400 guns. DHS lost over 300, FBI lost 160. It happens. If you have ever run a business, you know that employee theft and paperwork snafus can be a real problem. Links:

So that’s why Red Jacket Inc. lost their license a year ago and the two (yes, two) FFLs they have now are held by Red Jacket LLC. Plug them into EZ Check and they’re live FFLs – 5-72-03255 and 5-72-03043.

Much ado about nothing. This is pretty much SOP in the industry.

American Guns > Sons of Guns…way better they even speak in complete sentences.

This. I even had a post written up about just that… looks like I will need to update it.

  14. RS Says:

Whew, for a second I was concerned that small town sheriffs would have to find another source for those silenced automatic grenade launchers so needed for modern law enforcement.

Nothing says “WARRANT SERVED” like rapid fire rounds of 40mm into the windows of some deadbeat parking ticket delinquent.

This show jumped the shark after the first few episodes.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
