Why a .45, simple knock down power. No one walks through a 230gr JHP moving at 1100fps. Meth and Oxycondone make you bullet proof to .38s and 9mms. But the .45 literally knocks them down. That ends the fight.
I fully agree with what R. Wright had to say. The .45 has the stopping power. The old saying is because they don’t make a .46, but they do make a .50 and that to is a great weapon but a little heavy.
People will argue all day long about whether or not all those “other” calibers are effective combat pistol calibers. But few will try to argue that a shortcoming of the .45 ACP is that it is ineffective.
I disagree with R Wright, if the .45 literally knocked down a person shot by it than the shooter would also be literally knocked down. Physics and all…
The very first pistol I owned was a M1911A1. I’ve been partial ever since. I alternate between a Glock 19 and an HK Compact .45 USP. Both are similiar in footprint. My beloved 1911A1 is retired to the gun cabinet, but I use it every time I renew my CCL.
9mm or .45 ACP? Hope I never have to use either one.

“And of course there’s the feeling of satisfaction from shooting a polymer gun in CDP, but that’s just because I’m a bad person.”
Money quote, right there.

OK, then let’s just say good, old-fashioned stopping power. When you get shot with a .45, you stay shot.

Am I reading Guns and Ammo all of a sudden? And where is that bullshit smell coming from?
