In Iowa

Santorum within 8 votes of Romney? Paul took third.

This is me shaking my head.

Huckleberry won Iowa last time, but I believe all other caucus winners have gone on to win nomination.

So it appears our choices will be a gun-banning liberal who wants to force everyone to buy health insurance or four more years of Barack Obama.

  2. Fin Says:

    Yawn …….

Wake me up when November 2012 arrives. All this is simply window dressing.

Put Homer Simpson on the ballot FWIW, Anyone but Obammy in 2012.

  3. NAME REDACTED Says:

What’s amusing is that none of this matters. The poll is a straw poll, because Iowa is a caucus state, so the only thing that matters is which delegates were chosen to the next round.
We won’t know who actually won till about June.

  4. ZCORR Says:

What is also interesting is that you can be registered Democrat, show up and switch parties on site, and then vote. I’m curious how many switched parties and voted for the worst possible candidate cough santorum cough.

  5. Magus Says:

Wait, isn’t this a bunch of politicians (delegates) voting on which politician they like and want to foist onto the public?

    I’m voting for Daffy Duck.

  6. NAME REDACTED Says:

The delegates aren’t really politicians, they are locals. Usually if you show up, and volunteer you become a deligate to the county.

  7. Dannytheman Says:

Santorum creeping up and grabbing a very close second will help move Romney further to the right! Romney is a RINO in my book, so I want him moving over further right, and Santorum could help with that!

  8. DirtCrashr Says:

Dannytheman shares my optimism – but it’s a shadow-play anyhow, and the game’s afoot! Paul taking Third should also move Mittens to the right.

  9. HL Says:

Santorum was a strong ally in the dark days preceding the aptly named “Crime Bill” of 94.

  10. Paul Says:

    Anybody but Obama…. for sure!

Anybody but Romney to. I’ll take Rick, Newt, Perry, even the dog catcher in Dallas, but not Romney.

  11. Bram Says:

Santorum voted for Medicaid Drug benefits ($60 Bill a year / $16 Trillion in unfunded liabilities) before PA voters gave him the boot.

    He’s different than Romney how?

  12. HL Says:

    @11

    See #9.

  13. blounttruth Says:

2006 Santorum won most corrupt in Washington, supported pro abortion candidates like Specter, Sunday he stated “I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money,”, he has stated openly he would like to outlaw all forms of birth control, he has a slight issue with spending. I give him no longer than post S.C. before he is at 13% and America will have to decide if they want Liberal Romney or Constitutional Paul, as Santorum didn’t make the ballot in VA and perhaps other states as well. I for one will stick with the 2nd amendment supporter Ron Paul.

  14. Riley F. Says:

Santorum is only slightly less crazy than Bachmann when it comes to social policy. Remember DoMA? Santorum was very much behind it. If he’s ok telling people what they can do in their bedrooms what’s to stop him from telling people what capacity magazines they can own?

For amusement value search the Interwebs for Sontorum and “Dan Savage”.

  15. Jake Says:

Santorum is only slightly less crazy than Bachmann when it comes to social policy.

Speaking of which, it looks like Bachmann’s out.

  16. fucema Says:

However, as far as delegate counts go they are tied: Romney, Santorum and Ron Paul each had 7.

  17. Bobby Says:

Santorum’s time as the “Not Romney” just happened to come during a vote. Paul is the real competition, and they know it. Look how Gingrich ripped on him during his “i lost” speech.

  18. Mike Says:

It all makes for interesting TV. Let’s put it this way. If the republicans were to nominate a moldy orange to run against Obama, I’d vote citrus.

  19. Chris L. Says:

Notice how Romney has escaped the ire of the MSN? He’s a RINO, a white Obama, and the MSN knows it. If they can’t have “The One” they will take the next best thing. They have(and will)crucified any real Republican or true conservative that comes along.

  20. Cargosquid Says:

Man…if there was justice in the world….Romney would win.

And the next second after swearing in, he turns to the crowd, raises his hands, and yells,

“PSYCH! I’M REALLY A LIBERTARIAN! Mr. Paul, how would you like to be in charge of the Department to remove departments.”

  21. spud Says:

    That would be good Cargosquid…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
