@Bill Chunko: Thanks for the kind words. When I was a Captain, it was “Cap’n Mac” from my 1st Sergeant and other NCO’s I knew when I was a PFC before attending OCS. Once I retired and was a high school teacher, I picked up the title of “Major Mike”.
Nicknames just sort of attach themselves to you without any choice on your part.
I flashed on the badge because I had just come off the range after expending lavish amounts of ammunition with my AR15. Have some 30 year old 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO ammo that still shoots okay for plinking.
