Conspiracy theories about NRA’s conspiracy theories

Over at Media Matters, some hysteria and outright fabrication. This is what we’re dealing with. People who are either delusional or liars or both. No wonder we win.

I guess that Joyce Foundation Money needs more misspending.

The latest from Media Matters is even more bogus:

“Major gun violence prevention groups are upfront about their support for law-abiding citizens to be able to keep firearms for their own protection.”

    One needs to ignore this:

As Mrs. Brady told the New York Times, her ultimate goal is a “needs-based licensing” system. Under her plan, all guns, and all gun transfers would be registered. And possession of any gun would require the gun owner to satisfy the local police chief that he has a “need” for the gun. (Erik Eckhom, “A Little Gun Control, a Lot of Guns,” New York Times, Aug. 15, 1993, p.B1).

What about people who need a gun for protection? “To me, the only reason for guns in civilian hands is for sporting purposes,” says Mrs. Brady. (Tom Jackson, “Keeping the Battle Alive,” Tampa Tribune, Oct. 21, 1993.)

Also, the “proof” they cite actually shows no such thing.

Media Matters may come to regret this one. Major gun violence prevention groups are mostly against law-abiding citizens keeping firearms for their own protection (Kellerman’s “43 times” etc). It will be fun pointing out this contradiction in the future.

I kept asking why is no one refuting these guys’ ignorance, then quickly realized where the link had directed me.

  4. Dean Kennedy Says:

Why do I want a gun? Because I am alive and I would like to stay that way. Besides, it still is my right as a citizen of this republic.

  5. Kristopher Says:

Why do I want a gun? Fuck you!, that’s why. It’s none of your stinking business why I want to exercise a basic human right, bradyite blowhards.

    I find their tears delicious.

  6. Cargosquid Says:

They have to believe that its all due to the influence of the evil NRA and the “gun lobby” otherwise they would have to admit that the American public is NOT on their side.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
