Bleg: Windows 7

Installed Windows 7 on my netbook a bit back. The netbook died and, to restore, I had to revert it back to WinXP. Now, I’d like to put Windows 7 back on it. Since I purchased it, you’d think it’d be easy. Download a copy, install and enter your code. Except that I cannot find where to download without buying it again. Or, MS says, use my disc. It’s a netbook sparky, it has no disk.

Anyone now where I can download the 32 bit home version?

Update: Ok, I think I got it squared away.

Any 32 bit Win7 disc should work, your key is what you need to delineate between versions. you can use the disc on another machine to make a USB boot version (google it) and get down to business.

    (unless you have Pro)

Or you could look up the developer preview of Win8 and pay with that for a bit.

Here’s a link to a step-by-step guide to installing Win7 onto a USB flash drive which you can then use to install Win7 on your netbook which might help?

demonoid.me has a great selection of digital everything.

I always get them from MSDN, but I suppose that doesn’t help much, if you’re not on an MSDN subscription.

Of course, since you *have a license* both downloading it or getting someone to mail you a physical copy should be perfectly moral and legal.

(Also, glad you have it worked out.)

If you’ve solved it already you can ignore this, but you can download it from bit torrent. Just do a google search for “windows 7 torrent”.

this exact problem is about the only thing i’ve ever used piratebay for, myself. well worth keeping that website around, just for this alone, too.

You can buy reasonably inexpensive USB drives — I have a DVD read/write and a 1.44 floppy drive. That will let you use regular CD disks if you can get them.

Glad you got it taken care of.I have used the USB route many times and works very well.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
