Another shake up at AAC

Last month, we learned that Brittingham was out at Advanced Armament Corp, this after his lovely wife had been reportedly let go. Now, it’s reported that Freedom Group has fired the Operations Manager and will move production to New York.

Also of note, their blog hasn’t been updated in a couple of weeks.

  1. NAME REDACTED Says:

    MOVE PRODUCTION TO NY?

  2. Gerry Says:

I wonder how long their non competes are for.

  3. HL Says:

Obviously they are moving to New York to take advantage of its business friendly laws and tax codes…wait…

  4. wizardpc Says:

Yeah I don’t get the move, either.

  5. bluesun Says:

So Freedom Group is moving the things that were up north down to the south, and the things that were down south to the north?

  6. Bubblehead Les Says:

Underutilized employees up North, kill off the Southern Plant, move production to Yankeeland, the Math says they have less Total Payroll, Utilities, Taxes, etc. even though Wages are higher up in NY. It’s just Bean Counting 101. And they get to write off the move as a “Business Expense,” also.

It’s the kind of Stuff Companies that AREN’T “Friends of Barry” have to do since they don’t get Free Cheese from the Federales.

  7. armed_partisan Says:

Umm, this is a SILENCER company. They make a product that’s ILLEGAL TO POSSESS in NY. They don’t think that’s gonna cause a PROBLEM? There’s no amount of money that an employee will work for if merely TOUCHING the product their company makes will result in jail time, and we all know New York is corrupt enough to pull something like that.

  8. ben Says:

NY? ?? ??? NY? I don’t get it. Why do so many gun companies conduct operations inside extremely gun-hostile states?

What happened to Rachel? She still there?

  9. TomcatTCH Says:

couldn’t happen to a nicer company.

  10. Andy Says:

And so AAC quality goes the way of Marlin.

  11. Oleg Volk Says:

If all that is true, then I am glad to have jumped ship last year. Pity, they were an awesome company in many ways.

  12. Kevin Says:

I’m glad I bought a surefire instead. This is not going to end well.

And wouldn’t you know, there are no exceptions for manufactures in NYPL Section 265.10 Manufacture, transport, disposition and defacement of weapons and dangerous instruments and appliances.

    2. Any person who transports or ships any machine-gun, firearm silencer, assault weapon or large capacity ammunition feeding device or disguised gun, or who transports or ships as merchandise five or more firearms, is guilty of a class D felony.

  13. Adam Says:

Per their Facebook fan page, straight from Sir Argyle Sweater:

Mike Mers: We are not moving… don’t believe everything you read online.

Other Dude: I sure hope not, though I wonder if the people at Bushmaster had the same thoughts?

Mike Mers: Bushmaster had some money problems. AAC is a very solid brand both fiscally and sales wise. Mostly because we had awesome customers.

  14. Diomed Says:

    Kevin,

The law was changed in 2010 at Remington’s behest (they’ve been planning this for a while), check 265.20(a)(1)(e).

  15. Kevin Says:

This hardly covers AAC unless they intend to only sell the the military and FBI in the future.
” (e) Persons employed in fulfilling defense contracts with the government of the United States or agencies thereof when possession of the same is necessary for manufacture, transport, installation and testing under the requirements of such contract.”

  16. Diomed Says:

    Kevin,

    Yep.

  17. Trent D. Says:

Reminds me of those Pace Salsa commercials.

Guy 1: Hey Fred, this guy got his silencer from New York City!

    Fred: NEEW YOOORK CIITY?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
