Lone Wolf .45 ACP carbine
An AR-15 that takes Glock 21 magazines. Are pistol caliber carbines the new hotness again? That was so four years ago, I thought.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

This past December, OldNFO, T-Bolt and others beside myself saw “J.B. Miller” make consistent hits on a steel plate with his Beretta Storm carbine at over 250 yards w/o a scope. I even hit 50% of the time with his setup, and I tend to miss the Planet.
So, someone fire up the Popcorn. If one has a low budget, but wants a Long Gun and a Pistol, this may not be a bad idea to K.I.S.S. One Caliber to worry about, one type of Magazine to use, 250 yards or closer, which, in a Suburban or Urban Environment is a realistic range to take on a Mutant Zombie Hoard, there is a lot to be said for the concept. And some of the Cowboys back in the 19th Century used to use the same ammo for their Pistols and their Lever Guns. And one may be Stuck Behind Enemy Lines where just thinking about an Evil Black Rifle could send one to Jail.
I think the concept has Validity. But as always,YMMV.

I think 9mm makes more sense as it will make better use of a longer barrel than 45, unless you are running a can. People have played with 45acp in the AR platform for a while, the problem always comes back to the magazine. IIRC, Sten Mags are about the only thing that will work in a standard lower, and I don’t want to fool with a dedicated lower.
Now, a person with a Glock 20 and a 10MM AR would be a enviable indeed! Properly loaded 10MM in a carbine would be HOT! Even better, if the 10MM ammo were caseless…
