New from Palmetto State Armory: The W.A.R.
Robb is loving his new trigger. The comments then turn into a discussion of whether or not a M&P with a Forward Set Sear is appropriate for carrying. The conversation expands here where Robb makes his case for carrying it.
For now, I’m undecided mostly because I’ve never shot an M&P with that trigger but I’ve heard it compared to a 1911 style trigger. And Robb’s M&P lacks a manual safety. In theory, I’m on Robb’s side since, if you don’t press the bang switch, it shouldn’t make a boom. But one of the couple of handfuls of people whose advice I actually take on guns says she’s not a fan.
Thoughts?
Update: wrong second link before. fixed.
In MA, defend yourself and get charged with a felony. Looks like it worked out but that should never have happened.
The press is noticing what gun bloggers have been noticing for months: Wal Mart selling ARs.
Oops: A Russian villager discovered a stockpile of Kalashnikov assault rifles hidden in the wooden crates he bought for $15 from a stranger to use as fuel for his winter stove.
The good and bad but mostly moderate: The Truth about Mitt Romney’s Record on Guns.
There’s some misinformation out there from the usual hysterical subjects on the issue. My opinion is that I wouldn’t call him a friend to gun rights but not an enemy either.
I received a copy of the book Proclaiming Liberty in the mail. A book of gun quotes. Some info on it here. Sean has a bit on the book. And so does John.
I’m only there in spirit. But other people are there and covering it:
Like any gun show, there must be jerky.
New products covered by Shooting Illustrated.
Apparently, some people are butthurt because Knoxville is about as gay as this video. And a WNBA team is a criteria for a city’s level of gayness?
They’re so angry that, apparently, the news paper shut down comments.
NJ Court says the right to bear arms ends at your front door. SAF is appealing.
Brady Campaign was four minutes late filing, and loses nuisance lawsuit. More from John.
NSSF loses challenge to illegal multiple long gun reporting case. This requirement is quite clearly not the intention of congress and, by most accounts, illegal. But the court said it was OK. I’ll never understand the courts.
How NOT to shoot yourself with a SERPA holster:
So, that post I linked to earlier about someone from GunsAmerica whining that bloggers are not media and shouldn’t get press creds (my post here) generated more comments than all posts on the first several pages of the SHOT Show Blog combined. And, hell, my post generated nearly as many comments. All in a couple of hours.
So, who are these nobodies again?
There’s a reason for that. All the industry and media people already know the stuff they blog about. There are dozens of industry emails and newsletters I get that tell me and other bloggers/media sorts that stuff. What’s going there now is new eyeballs who are not industry and media. And they have something to say. And isn’t that what it’s about?
For those nobodies, Kevin is having a meet up.
Sadly, I won’t make it this year. This being underemployed with no permanent gig thing sucks.
From comments to that last post, comes SHOT welcoming gun bloggers and internet media types for the instant coverage. Then, someone from GunsAmerica chimes in and is not happy about it.
Update: I do think that there is some validity to his concerns. There are tons of gun blogs. So many I can’t keep up with them. How can a gun maker tell if someone with a badge that says ‘gunblogger’ actually has a substantial readership? And it’s not unheard of for people to start gun blogs for the free stuff.
Update 2: But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a dumb thing to say.
Who’s mentioned the most? Hint, they don’t make 1911s.
Well, I wonder about what is meant by mentioned? Do they count smith, smith and wesson, S&W for instance? Or Sig, SigArms, and SigSauer?
Murder suspect hides a 38 revolver in his butt. And he was tased. It does make one (ok, me) wonder if, say, it was something with a lighter trigger pull up there, could the Taser trigger muscle contractions and then cause a discharge? Because that would suck. Even more than having a 38 revolver in your pooper. Oh, and:
The gun measured 10 inches and included a 4 1/2 inch barrel
Is this guy related to Sasha Grey?
Update: If you feel the need, I do not recommend googling Sash Grey at work.
Rand Paul Returns $500K of Office Budget to the Treasury.
I rather wish this Paul was running for president.
From Sig (broke all of my rules for gunternet marketing), comes the 224:
SIG SAUER has officially introduced the P224, the first true subcompact in its classic line. Based on the P229, this pistol has all the features of a classic SIG, with one small change.
More than 80% of federal law enforcement carries a SIG SAUER. For these officers, the P224 makes a natural choice for backup or off-duty CCW. For the large percent that carry newer model P229s, their magazines will work in the P224.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
