A SHOT note

Hard to get excited when most of the offerings are slightly different versions of stuff already out there. Or over the top whatchamacallits labeled “tacticool”.

What government does

The dumbest thing I’ve heard since the last dumbest thing I’ve heard:

Cuccinelli said D.C.’s new rat law–the Wildlife Protection Act of 2010 (Wildlife Protection Act of 2010.pdf) –is “crazier than fiction” because it requires that rats and other vermin not be killed but captured, preferably in families; no glue or snap traps can be utilized; the rodents must be relocated from where they are captured; and some of these animals may need to be transferred to a “wildlife rehabilitator” as part of their relocation process.

Yes. DC will capture potentially disease ridden rats and release them instead of offing them.

You don’t need a bayonet

When your gun is actually an axe:

More axe guns at link.

TSA at work

Harassing old ladies, lying about it.

Unpossible

Joyce Foundation Shill Josh Sugarmann reports on a “study” that his paid hacktivist group conducted and concludes: homicide, and particularly gun homicide, continues to be one of the most pressing public health concerns in California among youth and young adults ages 10 to 24

Well, that’s kind of weird. Since California gets the top spot in the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Ownership’s ranking of gun control.

Isolated incident

Cop goes to wrong house for domestic dispute. Shoots and kills a chained dog the family recently rescued. Then threatens to blow the homeowner’s brains out.

There’s an app for that

Turn your Android phone into a Geiger counter.

Crashed government website halts lawful commerce

Michel and Associates:

A crashed California Department of Justice (DOJ) website during the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday prevented the shipment of thousands of firearms to retailers in California, and cost legitimate businesses tens of thousands of dollars in delayed or lost sales.

California has some of the most restrictive firearm laws in the country. One of those laws creates the California Firearms Licensee Check Program (CFLC). It was the inability to comply with the CFLC, due to the DOJ website crashing, that caused the whole problem here.

Concealable Artillery

Yeast, gravity and pressure

No, it didn’t make beer. It made multicellular life.

Skills I didn’t know gun bloggers were supposed to have

tongue punching“.

Guns in court

Supreme court will not hear case over whether or not medical marijuana users can get permits.

And they will not hear case challenging barring of gun ownership by those accused of misdemeanors.

Interesting

A gun safe with ethernet, usb and power plugs.

Ok, then. Via The Wiz.

Cool

Famous old photos, colorized.

Review Haiku Haiku

Look here, young lady
Haiku review is my shtick
Those look disgusting

Beer Cooler Cooking

Les is cooking a steak in a cooler. This, I must try.

Double standards

Or sexism?

If they had members, they might understand

But they don’t. The Violence Policy Center and Media Matters (but I repeat myself) are jealous of NRA money. And try to say that it all comes from the gun industry, which it doesn’t.

SHOT stuff

CrimsonTrace announces the one size fits all laser. I may be getting one of those soon.

Pretty cool:

Update on Korean Garands

It looks like the .gov has unfucked itself and they will be imported:

The U.S. is set to import antiquated firearms from South Korea that were previously banned from entry, officials here said Thursday.

Defense ministry officials said the United States has approved imports of M1 Garrand rifles, which were used by U.S. forces during the 1950-53 Korean War.

“The U.S. sent an approval letter in September last year,” a ministry official said. “The U.S. will be willing to review legal procedures once we seek to export the rifles.”

The official added that an exporter will be selected in an open bid at the end of this month at the earliest.

Good.

From CMMG:

Just because they can, I guess. Ok, then.

Gun Porn: SHOT and other stuff

The tactical lever guns, they really make me laugh.

Survivalism TV

A reality show about living off the grid. Isn’t being on TeeVee (even if if it’s GBTV) kind of like the opposite of off the grid.

Civil Rights Victory

In United States v. Rehlander, the first circuit rules that Heller means that Maine’s mental health procedures cannot automatically bar firearms possession. There must be an actual hearing since deprivation of a constitutional right requires due process. You can see the ruling here.

Unappealing

Lee Paige, who you’ll recall was the only one professiono enough to carry a Glock fotay, sued his employer (the DEA) for, well, I don’t know what but it had to do with a video of himself negligently introducing the inside of his leg to the outside going viral. Anyway, he lost his appeal.

SOPA protest fail

There’s a post I see in reader, want to read and link. Then they redirect all day to the SOPA protest page.

Like a piece of clothing

At the doc just a bit ago* for a follow up. He starts poking around on my abdomen and I realize I forgot to remove my Glock 30. Oddly, he didn’t notice. Or did and didn’t care.

* I apparently have a bad case of gastritis or a mild ulcer.

We’re number one

TN named 1 among the 50 states for low taxes and limited regulations by the United States Chamber of Commerce.

SOPA Dope

I’m not going dark, you may have noticed. You can, however, go here and write congress to tell them what petty tyrants they are for trying such a thing.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
