When you make stupid laws, they’re stupidly enforced

In Brooklyn, a store owner is being fined for selling toy guns. $5,000 per toy cowboy gun which is obviously not a real gun.

Dumbest thing I’ve heard in a while.

What government does

Tout the health benefits of walnuts, the FDA calls them drugs.

Occupy theft

Occupy protesters living in single dad’s house.

It’s like they’re trying to make it difficult

MILLER: Why I still haven’t bought a gun in D.C.

Amazing the hoops she’s had to jump through. Here, in America, I go to the gun store, give them a license for a NICS check, and hand them my cash. And the gun is mine.

OC of an AR at a pro gun rally

I advise against it from a marketing perspective.

In FL

Overall homicide down but justified homicides up . Funny how that works.

Quote of the day

Joe on anti-gunners:

Their “political currency” is the tragedy of their victim “heroes”. Ours is the enabling of self reliance and determination. There is no common ground upon which to compromise or even talk.

Some notes from Ry.

Should guns be banned in hospitals?

Not by the .gov. Hospitals are free to post their own rules though.

Big Brother

In NYC, thermal imaging to find those who are carrying guns.

13 Politically Incorrect Gun Rules

Some fun, some not. And on number 5, my carry guns don’t have manual safeties.

SHOT Show Stuff

The Tavor is coming to the US.

Springfield XDs coming in 9mm, single stack.

Some times, the best stuff is buried in comments

I laughed so hard at this comment, I had to leave the office.

I wanna rock . . . candy

Junior is participating in a science fair. She decided that for the fair, we’d make some rock candy. She set out to make four flavors: vanilla, cinnamon, orange and grape. I suggested that we make some bacon rock candy. She looked at me and the shirt I was wearing and said I know bacon makes it better but we don’t have to put bacon in everything.

Heh.

Bleg: Windows 7

Installed Windows 7 on my netbook a bit back. The netbook died and, to restore, I had to revert it back to WinXP. Now, I’d like to put Windows 7 back on it. Since I purchased it, you’d think it’d be easy. Download a copy, install and enter your code. Except that I cannot find where to download without buying it again. Or, MS says, use my disc. It’s a netbook sparky, it has no disk.

Anyone now where I can download the 32 bit home version?

Update: Ok, I think I got it squared away.

The perfect gun

Tam says the concept has been ruined and notes how she’s gone from over a kilobuck custom guns to the plastic fantastic.

6.8MM BISON SUBSONIC PLATFORM (6.8 BSP)

New, from Bison Armory:

Bye, son

The Bison Armory 6.8 BSP consists of a rifle chambered in 6.8 SPC II, with a fast 1:7″ rifling twist rate and a 6.8 SPC cartridge loaded with a custom made 200 grain bullet. The purpose of this configuration is to create an effective combined subsonic / full power platform for hunting and tactical situations.

The 6.8 BSP takes advantage of the properties of the 6.8 SPC cartridge to provide the ideal platform for dual suppressed subsonic and full power applications. The key to the 6.8 BSP is the combination of the heavy bullet and barrel with stabilizing twist.

Note, I’m part owner and only learned about this a couple of weeks ago.

Truthiness

The new fact checking arm of the News Sentinel isn’t so facty.

In the mail err magically transported through Al Gore’s internets

The Practical Guide to Everyday Carry Gear. It features various authors discussing various gear. The reviews are funny.

You can buy it at Amazon. And part of profits go to charity.

The frog with no legs is deaf

I’ve spilled ink (err pixels I guess) before on why it’s pointless to debate the anti-gunners. It’s pointless for a few reasons:

  • No one reads them but you. So, you’re not converting anyone.
  • It doesn’t matter that you’re winning, they’ll send it down the memory hole.
  • It’s time better spent blogging.
  • Or time better spent taking someone to the range.
  • They are paid shills, who will not change their mind. And you’re not going to convince them or their casual reader. Their only use to me is when they do or say something really stupid that I can use to shame the movement. And they just don’t do that enough to keep me entertained. This is why I don’t read them and I don’t debate them. They should be ignored and their views should be marginalized.

Others are coming around to that view too.

Guess he left the launcher at home

Man tries to rob a store with a bullet.

    On NYC’s gun laws

    A good read:

Meanwhile, savor the irony of an edict written by a corrupt politician to save his bad guys from the electric chair’s now being used against law-abiding citizens from other states.

    Headline of the day

    Heh.

    Crony capitalism

80 percent of the Department of Energy’s $20.5 billion in green energy loans went to President Barack Obama’s fundraisers and donors

    People pick different Xs though

Life is too short to own cheap X.

    Deal Alert

I read Garden and Gun at my doctor’s office. Near 50% off a subscription at Amazon.

And if you have a kindle and prime, you can get Aunt B.’s book for free.

    Gun Porn

The Chris Costa Signature Series 1911 from Nighthawk. With a retail just south of $3,500, I’d rather have 3 Glocks and the change.

    WW2 Browning Pocket Pistol.

    SHOT Stuff

Media day at the range AAR. And more head licking.

Oh look! A slightly different XD. I kid. It’s actually a single stack, which is pretty cool.

I knew it would come to this: Tactical Lever Gun from Mossberg. Richard has more SHOT coverage.

Lots of stuff from Shooting Illustrated. I like the B Quiet bolt gun concept.

    Lots of coverage from Derek.

    New From Sig

    FastBack Nightmare:

    spooky

This innovation is continued with the new Fastback series of 1911s. SIG SAUER engineers have redesigned the frame and mainspring housing to create a proprietary rounded backstrap, giving the Fastback a distinct look and advantage for concealed carry.

I dunno, gun nerds don’t like proprietary stuff.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
