JKB, funnily enough, Canadians officials tend to do what they’re told. I think we just have more sociopaths in our government to the south.

This is long overdue.
For more than 40 years, we (meaning firearms owners) have been repeatedly telling the Liberal Party of Canada AND the R.C.M.P the same thing; namely: Please go after the loathsome criminals, gang members, repeat offenders, would-be terrorists, and other bloody minded (and bloody handed) two legged vermin who willfully and knowingly misuse firearms, and leave the responsible firearm owners alone.
For more than 40 years, they have been ignoring what we have been asking.
Now they are going to finally learn the price of that ignorance.
