Taking injured vets hog hunting.
Speaking of, I’d like to try that. Anyone local do any of that?

I grew up bear and hog hunting the local mountains, mainly around the upper 129 “dragon” area. Unfortunately hogs are a no hunt nuisance animal classified as such last year. Their numbers are exploding, and TWRA feels that the cure for over population is to restrict the hunting of wild boar.
The reason stated is as interesting as the idea. They want to halt hunting of the animal that is overpopulated and destroying private property because keeping them legal would encourages trapping them and moving them to other areas. So they restrict all hunting other than private property permits (private property owners can get up to 10 permits and allow hunting), other than that hunting of wild boar in Tennessee (at least our region) is not permitted.
In other words if they allowed them to be hunted out, they would not receive the monies in the budget to “battle” the over population of wild hogs. One of the few times I disagree with TWRA’s handling of such a thing, but no one can argue against their record of increasing the population of not only big game animals, but fish populations as well in our local lakes, just pisses me off that I cant go in the woods and carry out hams for the cost of a bullet.
