Gettin’ all citified

In Knox County, a man is upset that his neighbors are lawfully enjoying their property. So, there ought to be a law preventing shooting. Politicos say that it’s due to Knox County’s growing population and its movement from rural to urban:

As the population nears 500,000, Shouse says many areas are going from rural to more populated.

“I think we need to look at updating the law and make it more for an urban environment. Maybe make a distinction between a subdivision and a more rural area,”

Sigh! With it being an Election year, something tells me that the County Commissioners will be putting in some new Anti-Gun Zoning Ordinances, then Brag about it come Election time.

Here in Texas one can shoot on one’s county property if it is 100 acres or more in size, which seems reasonable from a nuisance noise and safety perspective. In other words, only the relatively wealthy country folk can legally fire their guns for purposes other than self defense on their property.

I’ve thought and thought about it, and still want a silencer for my 22LR pistol.

IANL, but wonder if this runs afoul of the Fifth Amendment Taking clause.

Of course, with Kelo v. New Haven, the Overlords could seize your property to set up a For Profit Shooting Range or something, but that seems different.

You know, I get tired of jackass politicians treating me like a child. I live in Knox County. I don’t need some idiot to tell me it’s a bad idea if I start target practice outside my condo. My neighbors and the people in the subdivisions surrounding our condos would realistically expect me to be arrested for reckless endangerment and so would I.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
