10 year old suspended for gun video on youtube
Kid shows various guns in youtube video (I can’t actually find the video because the press sucks and doesn’t understand complex things like hyperlinks) and is suspended. He made no threats. It doesn’t seem to me that he broke any sort of school rules so why the suspension? Also, the incident is being investigated by the police. What are they investigating? What is the crime?
I’d lawyer up and sue.

“Our first step is to expel the student, so we can start an investigation.”
I wouldn’t think you would expel the student until after an investigation, and even then it would hinge on the outcome, but that’s just me.
I’m obviously not qualified enough to be in education.

Sounds like a guilty until prove innocent move. Those school administrators are some stupid motherfuckers….

If I help fund the attorney’s fees, can I share in the lawsuit proceeds? I see a profit potential here.

I’ve got some videos posted on youtube of my nephew at the range shooting several of my guns. Is he next?

Hoplophobia is the word we are looking for here, I believe.
Let’s hope the school never learns about 4Chan and all the other social media sites where kids post truly horrific things. The schools will be empty.

The really weird part is that this was in Kennewick, not exactly a hotbed of Progressive idiocy.
(Also, bonus points, from the article: It is not clear if the guns are real or fake.
That’s right – expelled for possibly showing fake guns in a video, with no remote connection to the school.)

Blood dancing again.
This is happening because a GFW in a position of authority thinks he can get away with it after some nutter murdered classmates in a victim-disarmament zone.
He needs to be slapped down ASAP. Adding third grade hunter education classes, gun safety classes, and some air-rifle marksmanship to his schools PE program is also needed.
Make these ‘tards understand that if they attack us, we will make firearms a permanent and integral part of their school’s curriculum.

No crime, legal under state statute for a minor to possess firearms in their parents home with parental permission.
Not saying putting a vid out on the Youtube is a good choice, but that’s a discussion for the parents to have with their son; not a rational basis to trigger a full brown (pants) alert.

Let me fix Lorraine Cooper’s line:
“Any time that something of this nature is brought to our attention, our first step is to expel a student, so that we can strike fear into the heart of any student or parent who might object.”
She’s publicly destroying a student in order to publicly destroy a student.

I read this and panicked just a bit, because I posted a video on Facebook of my nephew (17 years old) breaking in my Remington R1 at the range. It never even occurred to me that this might cause a school to freak out. I mean, I can understand that it would, given how ignorant school administrators are, but it’s so bat-shit crazy that I never thought about it.
I’d sue the school in a heartbeat for this kind of bull. The administrator needs to be fired immediately. No one who behaves with such an absence of common sense should be in charge of children.

The school used the excuse that he wrote something on the page with the pictures that they interpreted as threatening. Sounds pretty lame to me.

Its training. You train kids to be subservient, and tell them guns are bad. Look what happens when you even just show guns….

What is wrong with reporters these days? No link to the video? How are we to know what actually happened, and post comments about the video?
March 2nd, 2012 at 4:46 pm
Yeah, if it is as reported, that school just paid for that kid’s college education.
Maybe he could go to gunsmithing school with the proceeds.

According to the Bellingham Herald:
“In the webcam video that was posted Saturday on YouTube, the Ridge View Elementary School student is seen showing off and pointing three guns at the screen, but it is not clear if the weapons are real.
At the end of the video, he says something about another student, then holds up his middle fingers and says that is for one person in his class.”

So it looks like it may have been a direct threat.

My kids’ teachers know Miss Tacticute shoots. They’ve seen video, because I showed them. If there’s any raised eyebrow, I point out that this was done with the approval and encouragement of her occupational therapist. Even my wife, who’s not enthused about guns, is encouraged by the behavior that Miss Tacticute show on the range.
Now, the kids are at a private school, so they’re affected by market forces and they can’t pull in the power of the state to impose their prejudices.
Incidentally, if shooting is recommended by a medical professional for the treatment of a condition, does that make the guns, etc, a medical expense?

My wife is happy we don’t have any school age children these days, she says the murder defense attorney fees I’d generate would be too high.

In most cases, newspapers and other media outlets won’t divulge the identify of children under the age of 18 who are accused of something. Linking to the video could potentially be “identifying” if someone recognized him.

Are You F-In kidding me they Expell this kid purely over this video that they say they cant even tell if the guns are real or fake but thats not really the point it is just crazy.
