How a Louisville Leather holster holds ups
An AR from Wilson in 7.62X40. Another new caliber, I guess.

Wilson Combat does seem to like to copy other folks’ ideas – I see they like MagPul, for example – and why is a chromed firing pin a big deal in an AR? Isn’t 7.62X40 REALLY CLOSE to 300 Blackout?

Wow..the Wilson is “reasonably” priced at only the same level as a SCAR .308.

I thought the 7.62×40 was an old(late 70’s) wildcat target round for the early thompson contenders. A .223 with a 30 bullet. Has a small neck if I recall correctly..

Well, I looked up both rounds (300 Blackout (=7.62×35) and 7.62 x 40) and the 300 Blackout uses a shorter case — but both rounds are designed to work in an unmodified AR, so the overall length should be the same.
The 7.62×40 has a slightly higher claimed muzzle energy (with a 125 gr bullet) but the 300 Blackout also has sub-sonic heavy bullets data, while the 7.62×40 does not.
My guess is, the differences are pretty subtle. Both use a modified .223 case and shoot .308 bullets, and both are limited to 2.26″ OAL.
