Online gun reviews, more stuff
Sebastian has a bit on it and notes that, basically, there’s so much it’s hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. As a rule, if a gun sparks my interest, I’ll ask a few bloggers of note what they think of them. Or I’ll post about it here and you guys will tell me how it either sucks or is teh awesome. And that’s how I wound up with my Smith and Wesson M&P9, btw. I might even do some googling but that’s mostly going to show you the product’s press release reprinted at places that print press releases.

Guns are just a collectors item for most people so how can you criticize personal choice right? Would you take investing advice from a mechanic? Why believe reviews on guns when you no idea what the competency level is?

There’s a bunch of things at work here.
There’s a lack of standardized performance measurements like 0-60 times or a skidpad.
There’s a lack of comparison tests using those performance measurements.
And there’s a history of re-printing press releases and calling it a review that benefits the gun companies PR efforts, publisher’s circulation rates/pageviews but doesn’t help us consumers.
All of that is changeable, but it’s going to take some time.
