Editors of news rag debate concealed carry. Even people who oppose it are saying it’s time. Being on the wrong side of history can be a downer.

I want open carry so my daughter can ride her pony to school with her .22 slung on her back like all the cool kids did a century ago. She can do it now, in unincorporated areas, outside of Crook County, if I’m with her, but you know ….

It’s a Galesburg paper, not Chicago.
Chicago will die in the last ditch to prevent CCW. If people are allowed to defend themselves, Chicago’s power will begin to fade.

We still have my father’s .32 (1920s FN) that he bought from a Chicago cop forty-four years ago, when the Black Panthers and the Black PStone Rangers a/k/a Al Rukns were sniping at the police from the roof tops of Cabrini Green.

Being from Southern Illinois (south of I-64) I wish the State of Illinois would seced from Chicago. Peoria and East St. Louis are enough to contend with. Rahmbo Emanuel is the real Governor of Illinois. Quinn gets his marching orders directly from the Chicago machine via Rahmbo.

Here, from the article, is a classic, anti-gun quote: “But while the numbers prove it, I’m not sure I’ll ever be convinced more guns equal more safety.” — Jay Redfern, assistant editor.
Why let the facts get in the way of your inculcated, over-urbanized prejudices?
“Gun control” is a composite of 3 issues: crime control, safety, and liberty. The answer to your “safety” concern is the same answer to all safety concerns, aside from the quality of the equipment: training. Age-appropriate training. If, Jay, you are truly concerned about accidents, then go out and get some training so that you know what you are talking about—a novel concept—and then become an advocate for firearms training. Hint: Google “Eddie Eagle.”
