I remember Rush Limbaugh saying YEARS ago that when the Soviet Empire collapsed, a lot of the Commies decided to shift their Agenda to the Environmental Wacko Movement as a means of bringing about the Revolution and the New Soviet Man.
Of course, Rush is just an Evil Racist, Sexist, Homophobic 1%er, so what does he know….

Indeed the “Progressives” keep trying to manage Humanity since the dawn of time, if only everyone would get in line, from the uber-Progressive German death-factories to the Soviet Progresssive Gulags to Pol-Pot’s Cambodian Progressive-leveling killing-fields.
They have an unquenchable desire to be Gods-on-Earth. It’s the old and ancient religion of Nature-Worship, red in tooth and claw – where human and especially child sacrifice is so important – and yet so commonplace a thing. Where beating hearts are cut-out upon a throne of blood and raised up to the bloodthirsty Gods and Goddess, but still insufficient to propitiate them and gain favor, gain leverage over the natural world. But they have hope, it springs eternal, and they keep trying throughout the ages.
