Setting up a Glock for concealed carry

Here. Or, do like I do, go buy a Glock and a holster and carry it.

Holster, ++. The male physique, dressed in our usual clothing of pants or shorts, just doesn’t lend itself adequately to IWB carry. Sure, you can do it for short periods of time, but if you are going to pack most of the day, it should be in a holster. The holster should have some sort of basic retention device in it (strap/snap to hold the gun in or holster constructed out of springy material that clasps the gun). The holster should anchor itself to the belt AND the pants, which means that there has to be at least one pants belt-loop between the two places the belt attaches to the holster.

A holster is a set-and-forget device. Your firearm must always be there, and unusual movements of your body must not put your firearm at risk of falling out. Of course, all has to conceal well with a shirt or jacket over it.

It’s really a very basic concept. Have a gun on you at all times, and have that gun secure at all times.

    That is all.

I agree completely with replacing the sights. Many self-defense encounters are in low-light conditions, and sights are worthless if you can’t see them.

I also do the 25-cent trigger job, but I don’t consider that a modification.

I’m with you, though I’m thinking of putting some night sights on the G17 I just picked up.

IF you have a Glock, is there any reason not to go Kydex on the holster? After all, you wouldn’t want your Glock wondering what that dead animal skin was doing wrapped around it, would you? 😉

I like my C-TAC. Comfortable and secure and adjustable and compact. After about a year, one “weld” on it failed. I repaired it with MEK (the solvent “glue” used on PVC pipe) and have had no other issues in the last several years.

I use the Glock Sport Combat Holster.

It keeps the pistol close, has a slender profile, and doesn’t break the bank.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
