What a minute. Rachel “I go to the White House once a month to get my Marching Orders (just check the Visitor’s Logs)” Maddow is saying we need Professional Journalists and Editors on the Local Level?
Why? If the News is Bad, they just blame the “Evil Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy under the Leadership of George Bush, Dick Cheney and the NRA” anyway.
If it’s Good, it’s only because of the “Enlightened Leadership of Barack Hussein Obama and the fine work of such people as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, et.al.”
Wonder if she cleared her comments with the Ministry of Propaganda?
Otherwise, the rest of us who bloviate for a living are not going to have any facts on which to base our bloviation.
Like that even once stopped her before now!
Once in a great while when all other 1499 channels simultaneously go to commercial I watch MSNBC, and listen to Ms. Maddow. I change channels when she says something that I am absolutely sure contradicts well known, documented facts from reliable sources. Usually I listen to her less than a minute or so.
(It’ll be a bummer for Jon Stewart if Hannity, BOR, etc start correcting the shit they get wrong…he makes a lot of hay with the numerous examples of them refusing to do so).
Madcow is free to cease being a parasite on the real news industry (not that she’s the only one) and actually get out there and work for stories…but I won’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
If you can find it online (or have access to Sirius, it’ll run all weekend) its a great interview. She talks guns too.
Turns out, her and her partner for 13 years went to a gun range as their first date. She said she loves to shoot guns – but doesn’t have on in the house (citing the bogus a gun in the home is more likely to kill you statistic).
There was a pretty poor gun rights showing at the end too. A guy called up to challenge her supposed enjoyment of shooting guns claiming she was a gun banner. It went from bad to worse as she made mincemeat of him while he started trying to scream over Howard and Maddow. Her arguments, of course, were bogus. But the caller was ill equiped to moderate himself and limit the scope and length of his call (as an aside – as the guest she was always going to get the last word in and had this guy not called up, her appearance would have been noteworthy for the very positive things she said about the joys of shooting guns, the efforts of the shooting community to attract more women, and how great a date going shooting is. Instead, it ended with a guy sounding like a nut and her launching off on a Bloomberesque rant about reasonable restrictions..
Sucks when the Fox Noise marching papers school of journalism shoe is on the other foot, doesn’t it?
Your concession that the shoe was on the original foot in the first place is noted — as is your standard subject change/redirection technique (never defend, always attack).

Les,
Sucks when the Fox Noise marching papers school of journalism shoe is on the other foot, doesn’t it?
Heh.
I’ve seen Maddow freely offer self-corrections when she’s gotten something wrong. Ever see anyone on a NewsCorp channel do that Mikee?
Didn’t think so.

Not ot put too fine a point on it, but I’m pretty sure she’ll never be screwed.

Sure they do. Only someone who never watches it would think otherwise.

Mikee you know damn well a news article correcting a minor detail != a talking head on an opinion show admitting a mistake. Don’t be stupid(er).
“Weak when you pull that shit, by the way. Do your own research, fignuts.”
I’m not the one making the claim in question, shitbrains.
