About that suppressed bolt action 9mm

Garrett comments:

Hey guys – that’s me shooting. Work was done by Mike Klos of American Manufacturing. Stock is original, refinished. We talked about shortening the breech end of the barrel to re-chamber in 9×19 and re-setting the sights. In the end we decided it would be cleaner and easier to just buy a new barrel blank and chamber it in 9×19.

The original mags don’t like to feed the shorter ammo unless I download to 3 or so. I’ve got some 1911 9mm mags on order. I plan to cut a notch for the mag catch and use these. They should work better, as they were designed for the shorter round. I could always load some extra long ammo, but the whole point of rechambering it to a more common round was to not have to use special ammo.

Flashlight blogging

And a deal alert. After a tip from reader Andy, I picked up four of these Focus Zoom Lens Cree Q3 Flashlight Torch Light Lamp, which are now on sale for $9. I got mine at $18, darn it. These are well worth the money. Light, durable and the one handed zoom is slick. Also, it takes one standard AA battery and not any odd battery size. The light is brighter than my Surefires and my Streamlights. It also has points around the bezel which protect the light and can be used as a weapon in a pinch. It’s small and can easily be carried in a pocket. I picked up four, one for the wife’s car, one for me and I gave each of the kids one.

Quote of the day

I wondered the same thing:

Is Jessie’s Taurus going to be a Taurus the same way Kyle’s Camry is a Camry?

Does Taurus have a competition model?

Remember that double barreled 1911? Yeah, there’s video:

Let the butthurt flow through you

The lesson here is don’t be a dick. And, the more important lesson, if you’re going to be a dick, don’t be a dick to someone who can out-dick you.

It’s right there in the constitution

Military actions require ‘international permissions’ not a congressional vote or anything.

What government does

So, the .gov decided there would be a $10M prize for anyone who could come up with a green light bulb. Somebody won the prize with a bulb that costs $50. Facepalm.

Live free and broke

Quitting money! Being homeless by choice to avoid the capitalist system. Odd that, by default, it can be illegal to live without money.

Was it nullification?

Filmmaker Ira Isaacs, who had made pornographic movies involving eating feces and sex with animals, went to trial for obscenity. A member of the jury told the judge that another member stated she didn’t believe in obscenity laws. This is an affront to rigging the system and the ego of the judges err the law or so the judge would have you believe. And he informed the jurors that their job was to do exactly what he wants them to do err judge the facts and not the law, which is bullshit. This caused the judge to further attempt to rig the trial err instruct the defense and prosecution have a go of their closing arguments again. Isaacs says that was pretty pointless since the jury made it clear it was an impasse.

The interesting part is that the woman who may have said she didn’t believe in obscenity laws changed from that position to maybe this work does have some artistic value. Which is also bullshit. I have not seen Hollywood Scat Amateurs (and never, ever will), but I am going to go with the guess that it’s no where near art, particularly since early reports on this case state the jury found the evidence unwatchable.

I’m inclined to think this was one juror judging the law. And good for her. This man was making adult movies with other adults for adults to watch. They’re not my cup of tea but I don’t want anyone going to jail for 20 years over that crap (no pun intended).

Well, then you need the double barrel 1911 to compensate.

Smith and Wesson M&P 45 Single Stack

Some hubbub and a new commercial from S&W about an upcoming product. And my prediction is that it will be a single stack 45. It’s really the only M&P they haven’t quite done yet. And their commercial seems to target the concealed pistol carrier and not the tactical ninja market.

With all the hullabaloo about the XDS being a game changer, it makes sense. Of course, Glock has had one for years.

I’m hoping the take my advice and do a single stack 9mm.

Update: And, of course, the Kahr single stacks.

Glock fanboy

I’ve heard a variety of reasons why a Glock is better than X (X = someone’s sacred cow). Capacity, reliability, cost, etc. But I’ve never heard anyone say that it had a better grip angle. Until now.
