Seems the mother of a dead person is claims that Rand Paul has blood on his hands because he blocked a bill banning synthetic weed. Because if he hadn’t blocked it, there’s no way he’d have ever gotten drugs. Now, I’m sorry for this woman’s loss but we shouldn’t base law on the feelings of freaked out victims.
In a twist, it turns out the big fish that ATF was after were the FBI’s informants. Now, I’m not a police expert but shouldn’t you know where your informants are. And probably not letting your counterparts go after them?
If you followed the press narrative, you’d think that a white supremacist shot Arnold from Diff’rent Strokes. And that’s not it. If you followed the narrative elsewhere, it’s a clear case of self defense. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. But for some reason, someone wants to make this about race and someone else wants to make it about gun laws.
Now, I was one of those who came out early and said it looked like death by mall ninja. Because, based on what was considered known then, he followed the guy when he didn’t have to. And now, that’s not so cut and dry. And an eyewitness says that Martin was beating up Zimmerman.
Elsewhere on the tubes:
But remember who’s getting painted as prejudiced.
MSNBC says lock Zimmerman up for his own safety. Ed Schultz blames Jeb Bush.
Spike Lee tweeting Zimmerman’s home address. And the Black Panthers call for his death.
Update: And by last word, I mean last word until we actually know something.

Spring kinda happened:
And more blooms:
Some mulch:
Also, started the box garden, here’s some starter chard and Brussels sprouts:
And stuff in pots, some peppers, spices and tomatoes. The Mrs. had the idea to use corks on the end of bamboo skewers to label stuff:
And some more pots, green peppers, red peppers citrus mint, and oregano:
It’s sunny here and I’m spending the day gardening. Trying something new this year: Brussells sprouts. Well, in addition to the other goodies.

Today, I’ve been married to my wife for a decade. It feels much longer. I kid. But, seriously, where does the time go?
Happy anniversary!
In the election held Tuesday, March 20, 2012, the voters of Pike County, Illinois, approved a firearms concealed-carry ordinance by a 3,214 to 550 margin. It was one of the largest voter turnouts in county history. The ordinance directly contradicts current Illinois state law. As presented on the ballot, the ordinance took effect upon passage, and applies only to Pike County. The ordinance was placed on the ballot by a citizen initiative petition process that garnered three times the number of signatures required by law.
The new “Constitutional Carry” Pike County initiative was spearheaded by local Second Amendment activist Dr. Dan Mefford of Pittsfield, who drafted the successful ordinance in conjunction with noted outdoor journalist and firearms law expert Dick Metcalf, who is also a resident of Pike County. According to Dr. Mefford, “The people are speaking, and what the people are saying is, ‘Trust the people.'”
Look at that margin. Winning.
A trend: Asking potential employees for their facebook passwords. No. I don’t want to work for a nanny.
I’ve accepted long ago that there is no privacy. In this day and age, it’s dead. All you can control is the signal you put out. Now, people want to bypass that. No thanks.
The Washington Times asserted that the NRA has jumped into the argument over the Martin shooting. Trouble is, that it has not. I note the article has been ‘corrected’ but not adequately enough since a true correction would, basically, make the article utterly pointless.
Gail Collins at the Paper of making up the Record has a sad because the NRA is successful at getting the laws it wants passed. You see, their continued success will be their demise. Because they’ll run out of stuff to do. And, only if you’re not good at something, will you continue, I suppose. Which is good news for the NYT.
Also, she calls for a federal concealed carry ban.
Via Robb, comes an interesting article that posits that while moderates and conservatives can better guess a self-identified liberal’s responses to questions, the self-identified liberals have a difficult time guessing how conservatives and moderates would answer questions.
I have found that when I’m debating a few of my liberal friends that we’re often not speaking the same language. Or even close. Maybe that’s why.
A map of counties in the US that restrict alcohol sales. I think the colors should be switched.
That’s the theme of BrainBang, a new (to me) gun blog. It’s both odd and fascinating. Sort of has that stream of consciousness feel to it.

The AP brings us news of some hope and change:
The U.S. intelligence community will be able to store information about Americans with no ties to terrorism for up to five years under new Obama administration guidelines.
Until now, the National Counterterrorism Center had to destroy immediately information about Americans that already was stored in other government databases when there were no clear ties to terrorism.
Weerd has Zimmerman’s arrest report. Looks like he was on the ground when he was shot. And he was pretty beat up. Also, some eyewitness accounts say he was on the ground getting punched.
And maybe we should stop the Monday morning quarterbacking.
As more things come to light, this case is becoming less clear cut.
The wiz has a comparison of $9 Sipik v. the Fenix PD20 as every day carry lights.
While the $9 light in no way compares to my Surefires or Streamlights, it’s definitely worth the $9 as a throwaway light. I have four. I gave two to the kids and put two in some go bags.

TN lawmakers seem to think about gay sex more than any gay people I know. But calling them the Tennessee Taliban seems a bit much.
Via Glenn, comes what happens when a 35 year old takes the SAT. A bit back, I hired an assistant and she was only just out of school and prepping for the CPA exam. She had various study guides and stuff with sample questions. So, I took one of her guides one day and thumbed through trying to answer questions. And I didn’t do that well on them. Well, let me rephrase that. I did well on anything multiple choice but some of the calculations, I’d get wrong.
Of course, I know why. It’s because in school, you learn all manner of things that you’ll never, ever use in the world. I remember in my intermediate accounting course we spent a two weeks calculating the present value of bonds and annuities. Since leaving school, I’ve done that in the real world exactly never. And if I was going to do it in the real world, I’d just plug it into excel and it would do it for me.
Ruger stops taking orders, cites existing demand. Looks like Obama has caused two gun sales booms.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
