SAF v. PMSNBC

You ever see someone who’s famous and wonder exactly why they’re famous for doing that? As in, do you wonder why Kevin Costner is a famous actor despite having no ability to act. Or how Dane Cook is a famous comedian even though he’s never said anything funny? Or why exactly is it that I even know who Chris Brown is?

I think that every time I see Chris Matthews. To have a talk show, one would think a requirement would be a pleasant speaking voice and being somewhat knowledgeable. But you’d be wrong.

Any way, The Second Amendment Foundation’s Alan Gottlieb was on his show to talk about how the Martin shooting has nothing to do with stand your ground laws:

A good cause (bump)

If you’re in The City (My The City):

The Market will be hosting our first seafood boil of the year Thursday, March 22 at 5pm. This one is more special than any other seafood boil we have ever done because we will be donating 100% of every dollar from the event to Kylie Overton. Kylie is a 3 year old girl that has been fighting terminal brain cancer her whole life. She has one wish: ”to go to Disney World before she goes to see Jesus.” The Market would like to make this wish come true.

I actually cannot make it since we have T ball practice tonight. But I did swing by during lunch and dropped off a check.

Idiocy

Man pulls a gun on a reporter.

A good way to get shot

Or police training aid?

Sign of the times

In Indiana, the governor signed a law that specifies that people are protected by the state’s self-defense law if they reasonably believe force is necessary to protect themselves, someone else or their own property from unlawful actions by a public servant.

This is because the supreme court ruled that residents couldn’t resist police officers who were unlawfully entering.

Junk science

See BS:

. . . a new study raises an intriguing question: Could the watch captain have been fooled into thinking the youth was armed in part because he himself was holding a gun?

In the study, volunteers who held a toy gun and glimpsed fleeting images of people holding an object were biased toward thinking the object was a gun.

Here’s the “study”.

Theft

92 year old man who used a gun in self defense wants his guns back from the police

Gun makers in anti-gun areas

Never understood why so many gun makers were in NY or MA. Seems like a hostile work environment. But it’s good to see Remington Arms taking on NY’s proposed microstamping pipe dream.

Gun blogging about gun blogging

So, you want to be a gun blogger: part 1 and 2.

In fast and furious news

ATF higher ups continue denial and lawyer up.

Media bias

Editor of newspaper that wrote several editorials denouncing prostitution died of a heart attack with a prostitute. And the attempted cover up by others in the newsroom is ludicrous.

NY gun laws and prosecutorial discretion

From MJM.

Stupid should hurt

And some times, it does.

At a line at a gas station, a woman didn’t want to wait her turn to get gas. So, she decided to gun her engine and cut off another patron because, you know, she’s more important than anyone else. Well, a bit of over-steer and her inability to control her vehicle sent her right into the gas pump. Which caught fire and set her vehicle on fire.

Her stupid was caught on tape for all the world to see and mock.

Land of the free

Man arrested and jailed without bond, subject to home monitoring for the heinous crime of not having enough money to finish the siding on his house.

The shooting sports and lead

Addressing his wife’s lead concern. I wonder if these concerns are spurned by the constant calls and junk science for lead ammo bans while hunting?

Lapdogs in the press

At a time when there are advisories against travel to Mexico (in part because a bunch of drug lords are using guns provided by the ATF to kill people), the president’s daughter goes there for spring break. The white house asks the press to scrub the story and it does.

And our next lapdog involves a case where police shot and killed a charging boxer puppy and, in the crossfire, managed to kill a chihuahua. The press reports on how the police were forced to defend themselves from these terrible and fierce creatures.

Not news

Josh Horwitz is delusional.

What is news, however, is that the number of Federal Firearms License holders is rising. Which is odd since, since Horwitz tells me gun ownership is not on the rise.

A property rights victory

9-0, the supreme court tells the EPA no. Good.

Drop in felony

Tam has a video of a Glock with some drop in parts going full auto:

It used to be that you needed a file, an Arkansas stone, maybe a Dremel, and a fair amount of mechanical ineptitude to mess up your heater.

Yup. Also, we now have case law that says a malfunctioning gun could be a violation of the National Firearms Act. So be careful out there, even beyond shooting yourself.

Speaking of the narrative

That ‘far-right’ gunman shooting Jewish people in France has suddenly turned into sudden Jihad syndrome.

Also, it’s reported he used a World War II 11.43 gun. Any ideas?

Nordyke update

Looks like the county is amending it’s gun laws.

The Martin shooting

The author of Florida’s stand your ground law points out the truth: the shooter is not covered under that law. But the press and anti-gunners (but I repeat myself) keeping saying that it does. It’s the narrative.

The other narrative is that a white guy shot a black guy. The shooter is Hispanic. And he apparently decided that the Martin was suspicious before realizing he was black. It’s silly to outright dismiss that race played a role but the evidence so far seems to indicate the shooter was an overzealous neighborhood watchman playing tactical tommy.

This is a gift wrapped tragedy to the anti-gun folks who are using it to launch an emotional attack on gun laws and permit holders, while lying about gun laws:

Tragedy may be our opponent’s currency, but demographic stereotypes are their natural manure.

And folks ask me what I think the fallout will be. Short answer, not much. I think a prosecutor may have a hard time with the self-defense angle. They like to arrest people but they haven’t arrested him yet and there’s a reason for that. I would expect any criminal trial to fail, short of a plea. However, given the nature of the 911 calls and the police told him to knock it off, a civil suit might prevail.

I’m not a law breaker

On the brainwashing

Fast and Furious part of the brainwashing plan?

A good cause and good food

Unpossible

Mexico is awash in weapons but only has one gun store.

In the nanny state

You cannot donate food to homeless shelters because his lordship, Bloomberg, cannot assess the nutritional content of donated food.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
