There is no rise in gun ownership.
In fact, the loss of gun sales revenue is so disastrous that S&W is returning to the high quality, labor intensive manufacturing techniques they used on their .357 Magnum revolvers in the 1930’s to maintain what few sales they are making.
Look for the new M&P semiauto pistols to have not only smoothed feed ramps and 3.5 pound glass-rod-breaking triggers due to polished sears, but also a finely burnished, hand-polished finish on the polymer frames.
And of course S&W will be taking the lead on pushing for government bailouts of the firearms manufacturing industry comparable in size to the GM and bank bailouts. Look for S&W to use the $25 billion they get in 0.0% loans to put Apex triggers in every M&P they sell, at no extra charge.
