Top smartphone maker: Samsung
Samsung’s Galaxy line beats the iPhone. I like my Galaxy Nexus, as I’ve said before. And they beat out Nokia in total handset sales.
Androids have been outselling iPhones for a while but that’s only because there’s iPhone v. a new Android phone coming out every ten minutes. It’s a first for specific android phones, I think.

Interesting, as the financial reports of both Verizon and AT&T showed that the iPhone was the majority of their sales.
Hmm…

Other than the basic Android gripe that users can’t delete garbage apps the Galaxy line comes with (without rooting and thereby voiding the warranty), I love my Galaxy S2.

Other than the fact that unless you’ve got a PhD in Computer Science an Android is near impossible to work, set up, fix and correct, and then get different apps to recognize each other (oh, like the mail program and the photo program).
Seriously, my wife has an Android (Don’t know which one, some motorola piece of poop) and its the devil. The worst designed piece of crap I’ve ever used.

I notice they confuse “shipped” and “sold”, though I suspect it makes little difference with the Galaxy series, since it’s actually popular.
I don’t think Samsung needs to play the channel-stuffing game with its phones, which is refreshing.

Yeah not sure if they mentioned how immense the Galaxy line is either. I have a T-mobile Exhibit II which is the low cost Galaxy W everywhere but the US.

My Exhibit II isn’t a horrible brick; of course I rooted it less than a month after purchase.

A line of 25 distinctly different phone models—some of which have up to 18 variants—is not a “specific phone,” so it’s not really an accurate comparison to the iPhone.

Wife’s got a Motorola DroidX2 that she’s going to ditch in favor of something/anything not a Motorola DroidX2. Myself, I’m 6 months past my ‘upgrade date’ with my Blackberry Storm 2. I’m a dinosaur and I like it, but I won’t own another BB product.
I like the Galaxy Note, but I have no clue as to what I’d do with it.

The Iphone is a great phone but it is also a confining unmodifiable piece of hardware. Regardless, some people like that and more power to them, but the beauty of Android is that it is customizable. Also, if you are on a contract carrier you are getting boned out the ying yang. I am currently on Boost and have a Samsung Transform that I just got this Friday. It is already rooted, installed Clockword Recovery Mod, has an overclock kernel, and Custom ROM installed. I also don’t have a PhD in Computer Science and still managed to do it. Most rooting/CWM programs are one click and take around 2 minutes to complete. The trick is to read up up on what you are doing (Message boards). Much of this issue about Android being too complex is crap. If people took about 5 minutes out of their day and actually read up on how to modify their phones they would see it isn’t that difficult.
