Yeah, there’s an 800lb gorilla in that study and no one is going to say it. That study shows me something else, something not related to cops or guns. It’s the absence of a group…
“There were also slight reductions in the number of police employees and the number of firearm suicides as a percentage of total suicides, which suggests a fall in gun ownership.”
Sorry DK, you’re reading it wrong. They are listing it by metro area. Camden metro area also includes Cherry Hill and Voorhees, as well as other townships full of 7000+ sq.ft. homes and average incomes well into six figures. Those white and wealthy townships dilute out the dark and crime filled city of Camden.
@Andy oh I get it, I noticed that they grouped some very wealthy areas together to get their top metro areas, but I didn’t know that Camden metro included the surrounding much wealthier areas.
I haven’t lived in southern NJ in about 10 years.
I live in Austin, TX now, which sits further down their list despite being vastly safer.

From the report:
“There were also slight reductions in the number of police employees and the number of firearm suicides as a percentage of total suicides, which suggests a fall in gun ownership.”
Suggests wishful thinking to me.

Those are some seriously broken metrics, Camden, NJ is one of the most violent cities in the country and they have it listed as fairly peaceful.
