Highway check points ruled illegal
In Kentucky, the city forced everyone to buy tickets to display in their window. Well, some didn’t pay the tax and the city wanted to crack down on them. So, doing what government does, they inconvenienced everyone with roadblocks looking for those stickers. Then the police searched everyone without the sticker. The court says that’s illegal because it’s a revenue measure.

Such roadblock checkpoints were ruled illegal even for DUII enforcement here in my Oregon, decades ago.

“they inconvenienced everyone”
That’s the dispositive Fourth Amendment question in roadblock cases. What Rivrdog said, it mostly comes up in DUI. The Fourth Amendment protects the innocent.
