Shelter and taxes go together. Our “rent” to 87 taxing bodies for our modest 90-year old cottage is over $10,000.00. Admittedly, we went there for the schools, and we have no complaints in that regard. Daughter, in 3rd grade scored 99% nationally in reading. (I never get tired of saying that.) The school districts’ bite is about $6,000.00.
If you click through to the article and scroll to the bottom, there are three sources cited, one of which is a study they did themselves. I’m not saying the info is wrong, but this is the same thing we criticize the Brady Campaign and Violence Policy Center for doing in their “studies”. Yet with this, because it fits our preferred narrative, none of us bother with the fact-checking and source-vetting that we enthusiastically spring into action to do when the Brady Campaign or VPC comes out with a study.

Don’t worry, inflation will fix that soon.

What I find intersting was for how long those two stats correlated.
And how both sharply went up. Would like to see them normalized per capita perhaps.

Shouldn’t that be “some Americans”? The others getting their food and shelter from the government welfare?

Ditto JKB. I think it’s about 50%.
And don’t get me started on the “Earned Income Tax Credit.”
