Again. He did then he didn’t because it was an election year. Not sure what this one is about since the timing is also during an election year.

Even the AP feed on the radio on the drive in noted this coincidence. In between gushing over washed up movie stars.
A bunch of donors were also complaining about Obama’s obvious charade and, more importantly to them, lack of action. Obama’s hoping that this symbolic move will get enough glad handers and fellow travelers to open up their pocketbooks to offset the very anti-gay marriage tendencies of his minority voting blocks.
It also gives a nice distraction for the media and a wedge issue they can lob at Mittens, while being careful not to mention the wedge effect is has on the Dem side.

As much as anyone might want the happy sentiment of marriage: marriage between two of the same doesn’t make any sense. The whole point of a marriage is uniting complementary difference or opposites. Imagine a top chef saying “for my new recipe I will marry carrot to, guess what, carrot.”??!? Well, the fellow might get a job with the BBC or the Tory party, but the Labour party came to a much more reasonable accommodation: civil union. A truffle is a marriage between a soft ganache and hard shell with a sweet inner and bitter cocoa dusting.
