You know,Coffin and JT weren’t at last week’s gun show. I wonder if it is because they had no inventory?
Maybe there were just other shows going on that they went to. I saw a few different folks I know that were at the show for uppers, and were panicking a little because those two weren’t there.
There were still a decent number of uppers to be had though.
I did notice that on Saturday about noon, the Plum Crazy lower guy only had a couple on the table, and he usually has dozens.
Completely expected every time this year. ATF sees a major ramp up right around tax-return season and the NFA branch folks (nice people, btw) once told me over the phone to get new forms in quickly, before tax season, because their volume spikes heavy through April-May. Even more than Christmas.
It is worse this year. I built a couple of AR’s this time last year and had no problem at all getting parts. But certainly, tax refund time leads to sells, no doubt.
There is a convergence of issues–The looming prospect of Obama 2, Sprialing Economy, Flash Mobs, Occupy, The Mayans, The Prepping fad, The Walking Dead, Falling Skies…MASS HYSTERIA!!!
Well, my lower parts kit is on its way to me after waiting a couple of weeks for Midway to have it in stock again. I hope this doesn’t adversely affect the (3 month) delivery of my .458 SOCOM upper from Rock River Arms, though.
DPMS is at two shifts now and they have been building up to that for months. This is far above tax time the last three years. I am sure the rest are doing the same.

Why do we always seem surprised at this?
I bought all my ammo early.
