Man, that reminded me of an incident with a teacher long ago. When I was told I could not have item X unless all of the other kids had the same, I asked “Isn’t that the way the communists do things?”. Boy, that teacher probably turned sixteen different shades of purple when I said that.

My HS didn’t teach social studies that I remember. We had straight-up History by then.

I have some liberal friends who really believe this same shit. Hell, they probably even believe that Bush had people, US citizens, on US soil, assasinated simply for saying bad things about him. I didn’t really like Bush much more than they did, but it’s really stupid the crap that people will believe just because they politically disagree with someone.
(of course they also blame Bush for Obama’s ~$1.5 Trillion deficit… they still haven’t been able to explain THAT math to me)
