What caliber for beach?
Heading to my unsecured and undisclosed location and blogging will be light. I have a few scheduled posts but don’t expect much. I was packing up and torn between the Glock and the M&P for the trip. The Glock, I know, is perfectly fine for beach weather since I’ve carried it many times. Opted for the S&W just to see if it holds up as well in salty air.

16 inch.

A sand blaster, of course.

Depends how big the sharks are.

I would only take my Glock to the beach. No way a S & W holds up under those conditions. You’ll be taking it to the gunsmith when you get back.

Just got back from the beach… I have both the S&W and the Glock, but for this the Glock gets the nod. I have had to swim out to keep my Labs from chasing dolphins, drag them back through the sand and then wait for a couple of hours before I could get a freshwater rinse, no problem. The S&W might do as well, but I know the Glock will.

Maybe I’ll take both.

Are you going to clean it and eat it after you kill it?

Damnit, Mad Jack took my comment.

16″ with a chaser of Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children.

For the pedantic, that’s 16″/50 caliber…

Aw come on. Just a very small wad of bread on the tip of your hook.
Now if you have flat rays down there, you might want to bring your frog stick.

… and for the gear-ho, it’s a 16″/50 caliber Mark 7 gun shooting a 18.9 mega-grain round at 2,690 feet per second.
Those posers bringing the 16″/45 Mark 6 guns can only chuck a 15.7 mega-grain round at 2300 feet per second, which just isn’t good enough, dammit.

Either one will make major, of course.

We just got back from the beach and I took the Glocks and a Kel Tec. Everything worked just fine and I actually carried the KT in swim trunks on the beach. It worked fine.

So for concealed carry in the speedo, do you go with a subcompact G27 or a long slide G35?
Cuz I’d expect some “printing” when you’re walking around, IYKWIMAITYD.

Take both, & do some informal “torture” testing: dunk the Smith in the water, leave it to dry on its own. Drop it in the sand, & etc. Would be nice if there’s a range nearby to shoot it after.
Inquiring minds want to know.
