Well, I waited 8 months on a can LAST year. Got it in Feb, got it back in Oct.
I am waiting on two now. One went pending in March, the other…hasn’t yet. It may be NEXT summer before the second one comes through.
For anyone who doesn’t believe that even with no new laws passed the Gubment can effectively control guns, take a look at NFA.
Think of the instant background check in place currently for regular firearms purchases. What would happen if the instant system suddenly started taking days, weeks, or months to come through? What could a citizen really do to get it fixed?
You can “demand” in one hand, and shit in another…
Supposedly, it isn’t they have been cut, it is that several agents retired, and there the process to backfill is lengthy…requiring ATF approval…or something.
There are about a dozen temps (detailees from elsewhere at ATF) who have just come onboard at NFA. Wait times will decrease as they get up to speed. Longer-term, this seems to have convinced a few of the higher bureaucrats that maybe they do need to hire some more fulltime staff; look for that in FY13.

That’s an 89 page thread detailing wait times going back to Nov 2009.
Yeah, the wait times appear to be increasing.

Good. Let em get nice and absurdly long. The case defeating the NFA will go much smoother with long, arbetrary wait times.
