Quote of the Day

Billy Beck on the facebook: *Try* to understand, Ladies and Gentlemen: the police are now the “standing army” that Jefferson complained about in the Declaration of Independence.

    I’ve thought that too.

    So… now what?

  2. Weer'd Beard Says:

    Yep, he’s 100% correct.

My small town has an armored vehicle. So far the only thing they use it for is to give kids a tour on field day.

But its like Sigfried and Roy with their tigers. They may seem docile and friendly…but when you live with a tiger on a long enough time line….

  3. Tam Says:

    Pretty much, yup.

  4. nk Says:

No kidding. If you exclude the uniformed KGB on the Russian-China border, our country has had the largest per capita police forces since I learned how to read.

  5. Ron W Says:

    nk,

And since the institution of “Homeland Security”, your local police can come under Federal control at the whim of the ruling elites far away in Washington….a flagrant violation of the 10th Amendment.

    *Like*

  7. Mike Says:

We pay their salaries\benefits\pensions – in effect we are quartering them. It would be funny if that oddball third amendment suddenly became rleevant wouldnt it?

  8. Mike Says:

Sorry, “relevant” (brain okay – fingers slow)

  9. Mike Says:

    Interesting quandary, ain’t it?

On the one hand, you have those who recognize “law” enforcement for what it is.

On the other hand, you have the vast majority who “support local law enforcement”.

We’ve assigned to law enforcement the ancient rights and prerogatives of kings. Every police officer is, in effect, a “royal person” who is due immediate obedience and deference (“disobeying police orders”), and whose blows we must endure without defending ourselves or even curling up into the fetal position to protect vital areas (“assault on a police officer” and “resisting arrest”).

Do yourselves a favor, folks. Never, ever, ever trust a cop. Ever. Each one is a potential thief, liar, or murderer: each one is an enemy to Liberty, and yours is at peril every time you interact with a “peace” officer. At their discretion, your life can be ruined…or your life can be ended, with little justice appended to your demise. Beware. Read through the archives at Balko’s Agitator website and you will get a thorough education on what cops have done and why police should be disbanded.

But, there are many of us badge holders who decry the apparent militarization of police, would object to being federalized, and consider ourselves Oath Keepers. My oath still requires me to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. I’m a local cop in a very gun friendly state and I will not abrogate the Constitution.

Will you stand by and let brother officers do it, though?

  12. El Bombardero Says:

    @PawPaw – There aren’t enough of you

  13. MAJ Mike Says:

    What wizardpc says.

  14. Cargosquid Says:

    LAW enforcement VS RIGHTS enforcement.

This is what the militia is for. Its very hard for fellow militia to enforce a law that infringes upon rights.

  15. NAME REDACTED Says:

I’ve been saying this for about a year now, its good that its catching on.

  16. Robin Says:

Even if you think the local LEOs are OK, look at the numbers below. During the American Revolution, there were < 90,000 under arms at any given time.

    From http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/

In 2004, federal agencies employed approximately 105,000 full-time personnel authorized to make arrests and carry firearms in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Compared with 2002, employment of such personnel increased by 13%.
Nationwide, there were 36 federal officers per 100,000 residents. Outside the District of Columbia, which had 1,662 per 100,000, State ratios ranged from 90 per 100,000 in Arizona to 7 per 100,000 in Iowa.
As of 2004, about 3 in 4 federal law enforcement officers working outside the Armed Forces were employed within the Department of Homeland Security or the Department of Justice.
Federal officers’ duties included criminal investigation (38%), police response and patrol (21%), corrections and detention (16%), inspections (16%), court operations (5%), and security and protection (4%).

Twenty-seven federal offices of inspector general (IG) employed criminal investigators with arrest and firearm authority in 2004. Overall, these agencies employed 2,867 such officers in the 50 states and District of Columbia.

I might give Billy a little more credit if he had not recently wished the police had shot Patterico.

  18. Les Jones Says:

Yeah, I tend to like Billy Beck’s criticism of the problem a lot more than his proposed solutions. He says it’s too late to take part in organized politics, so he plays loudmouth revolutionary with guns on the Internet.

Look up Lee Harris’s essay on fantasy ideology and see how much of it applies to Beck’s Colonel Kurtz routine.

  19. Ron W Says:

    PawPaw,

Thanks for being an Oathkeeper on the side of the people and your true superior fro your position, the Constitution and Bill of Rights. We shouldn’t treat police as the nemy unless they show themselves to be our enemy. The ultimate test is: ONLY YOUR ENEMY WANTS YOU DISARMED

  20. Billy Beck Says:

“But, there are many of us badge holders who decry the …”

Here is your problem and there is only one way can solve it:

We don’t know you are. You wear the same disgraced uniform as these rotten bastards.

Find yourself an honorable line of work, and hurry up.

  21. Billy Beck Says:

“I might give Billy a little more credit if he had not recently wished the police had shot Patterico.”

Quote me. I fucking dare you.

  22. Bill Says:

“Those that would make war on the police better make friends with criminals”. I do love when the broad brushes come out. Same types from the 60’s who thought every soldier sailor and Marine was a baby killer. No problem, when your neighbor whacks his whole family and knocks on your door, handle it yourself. When the drunk driver takes out the side of your your on his way towards a school, handle it yourself. When the Crips follow you around the mall cause your wife is cute, handle it yourself. The majority of law enforcement in this country is elected or managed by the elected.Get off your asses and get out the vote.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
