The Moisins that I’ve shot or seen shot (not a statistically meaningful sample size) never failed to go bang unless there was an ammo problem. Poor accuracy is often a result of worn rifling, excessively dirty bores, or poor ammo (no surprise there). Some Moisins deliver surprisingly good accuracy; not only the M39s, but even the M44 carbines can group better than most would imagine.
And one of the best things about them is that if you burn up all the ammo, & break the bayonet, you still have an effective club.
I think people don’t understand that there isn’t a heck of a lot of mystery about what it takes to make an accurate ( for military purposes ) bolt action rifle.
Years ago I looked up the military’s accuracy requirements for a standard rack-grade American M-14. It came out to more than five inches at 100 yards. Whadaya want? My cheapo, 19th century style muzzleloader has killed the hell out of many a deer, and the 7.62 x 54R is a lot more powerful than that.
