Deal Alert
I’ve noticed that with my Amazon Prime’s free shipping, they’ll often give you a choice for no rush shipping. And in exchange, will give you some credit toward MP3 songs at their MP3 store or some credit toward video. So, if I order something that I’m not in a hurry for, I get Tom’s Diner and Bleed free!

That’s good to know. I never thought of not taking the 2 day shipping. Wonder why they don’t publicize it?

I never noticed that, my Amazon Prime membership has been money well spent though.

I haven’t seen a pop-up or option for that either.

I can hear “Tom’s Diner” in my head for free any time I accidentally am reminded of it you bastard… :p

Holy Jesus, the only way to get “Tom’s Diner” out of my head now is to sing the Oscar Mayer commercial from the ’70s, and I’m not sure that the cure isn’t worse than the disease. I hate you.

Love Amazon Prime. Last summer – three days before Hurricane Irene hit – I had a generator shipped via Amazon Prime overnight from California, all for an extra $2.99.
Since having babies and moving to a place where even the nearest grocery store is a haul, the UPS people have gotten to know us as a regular stop. I mean that literally – they are here at least three times a week. Baby junk, diapers, baby toys, clothes, shoes, wipes, books are all delivered regularly.
If you order from Amazon regularly, then Prime is something to look into. You need to pay an annual fee but it’s worth it (I think they used to give it to us gratis, but not sure anymore). If it’s not an option for you, then you are not prime. Go look it up and maybe sign up.
Wish Amazon sold ammo, too. I love Lucky Gunner, but overnight Prime pricing ($3.99 now, I think) for a case of ammo would be too good to pass up. The UPS guys would stop loving us so much, though.

I don’t think ammo can be shipped by air.

For those who say they don’t see it, it’s for prime and it’s in the cart when you check out as one of the shipping options.

I <3 Amazon for little stuff like that.

Prime has been a lifesaver for me the past few years, because I always seem to be forgetting someone’s birthday, etc., and as long as I remember about 2.5 days in advance I’m golden.
Lately, though, it’s taken 3 days to arrive, which is somewhat annoying considering I’m paying an annual fee for 2-day shipping. That’s somewhat ameliorated by the free Instant Videos that are available. (I finally got around to watching Firefly, and it was in HD to boot! Ended up buying Serenity, though.)
Amazon’s always had the option to ship “standard” even with Prime, but there was no benefit to doing so (unless you’re an AMZN shareholder and wanted to save them some cash). Now they’ve incentivized it, just a li’l bit. For impatient folks like me, $1 in MP3s usually ain’t worth it. It’s nice that the option’s there, though.
Re overnight ammo…TANSTAAFL. Prime works because people buy more stuff from Amazon when they have a membership then they otherwise would, plus they have huge volumes so they can get deals with the carriers. With ammo, it’s always heavy which equals expense, and while there are a lot of us gunners, unless we all started buying ammo from one place it’d be hard to get volume contracts like Amazon can.
