The Nanny State

FDA to regulate cigars like cigarettes. I’m growing weary of bureaucrats these days. Blame the non delegation doctrine.

    That just sucks.

And note that congress is scrambling (or at least pretending) to pass something to stop the FDA.

That’s how it goes, the regulators decide to make a new law, and it’s up to the legislators to try to stop it.

Prettymuch sums up how the “Party of Government” and the ratchet effect work.

The FDA also is looking at electronic “cigarettes” – not saying they are actually cigarettes, but “drug-delivery devices.”

However, while I think some of this is the (inevitable?) result of a group formed to establish rules/regulations/etc having to justify itself by ever increasing its search for something new to do and justify its continuing existence, I put the blame on legislators who set things up that way without limitations.

Not to mention asking why cigar-smoking pols did not want cigars listed with cigarettes (i.e. “little cigars”) in the first place…

Just like JFK, stock up while you can.

Aww shit. When I was too poor to buy nicotine gum recently, I went to buy some cigarette tobacco and roll my own. That used to be much cheaper than tailor-mades, but not anymore. It seems the Feds have closed that tax loophole. Then I resorted to cheap cigars, ripping them apart and rolling the innards up in cigarette papers. That is the cheapest way to get tobacco at the moment.

Now they are going to stop up that leak in their total-control dam. Watch the taxes on cigars go up.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
