Contempt Vote

Looks like the committee holds Holder in contempt. On to the full house.

  1. Alan Says:

Heh. I hold him in contempt too.

  2. USCitizen Says:

Vote tally was 23 to 17, strictly along party lines.

One side was may have been putting “party” ahead of Country.

    Good job, Darrell Issa!

  3. Freiheit Says:

“On to the Full House”, Uncle Joey is going to have Holders head on a pike.

  4. Cargosquid Says:

You really think that the House will hold a vote, much less hold him in contempt? I have no faith in the Republicans of the House to have that much backbone, much less any Democrats.

  5. rickn8or Says:

Roger that Cargosquid. Still, it’ll be fun to watch all the gyrations as both sides of the aisle try to keep this from coming to a vote.

  6. Crotalus Says:

So, if he does get held in contempt of Congress, what will happen to him? I’m betting he’ll say, “So what?” and simply walk away from them, there not being any actual consequences, and Obomination will protect him.

  7. MAJ Mike Says:

Hell, I’ve had contempt for Congress since 1968.

  8. Critter Says:

nothing will happen to Holder right up until he becomes a political liability, which will be any day now. and when that happens…under the bus you go…..

  9. Shawn Says:

The house will not find him in contempt. Their will not be a SINGLE democrat who would vote for that. And even on the republican side most don’t have the balls to go after holder anyway.

He will get away with it. The left always does. The activity is normal and encouraged.

  10. Social Media Sebastian Says:

One of the more enabling myths that perpetuates the illusion of choice: that the “other side” does it and mine doesn’t.

    Keep the faith.

  11. Mike Says:

    Cargosquid FTW!

Also, anyone wanna take bets that Romney gets sand-bagged on this all the way up to his NAACP speech in July?

“Mr. Romney, Mr. Romney: how do you feel about your fellow Republicans pursuing what some are calling a ‘witch hunt’ against the First Black Attorney General(TM)?”

You gotta love the media: they’re clueless, partisan scumbags, but it is always interesting to see the depths to which they sink (each and every time) to save the Teleprompter Messiah from his latest f*ck-up.

  12. Bill Says:

Obama now goes all “executive privilege”.

  13. Old NFO Says:

I’m waiting for the civil charges from Terry’s family against Holder and Dodson and some of the others… THEN it’s going to get interesting…

  14. Patrick Says:

Old NFO: Absolutely. That suit will involve judges and lawyers and hearings and briefs, all subject to appeal. DoJ will have a much harder time in that case, especially since judges are frequently more than willing to privately review the documents the government claims are “sensitive” before making the call on whether to force their inclusion. Documents that are strictly to protect political interests will lose protection.

As for contempt, if they schedule the vote it will pass. It’s fairly meaningless from a ‘get the info’ perspective unless the DoJ wants to prosecute themselves on it. Ahem. The best the Congress can do is sue the AG in Federal District Court to force compliance. That is a goat-rope all around. You’ll hear calls for an independent counsel, but frankly the time for anything to come of that has long since passed.

I am surprised Boehner has had the balls to go this far. I guess he didn’t get much of a choice: after sending the nasty-gram to Holder a few weeks back, Holder was supposed to play the concerned AG and make some noise about compliance, while both sides secretly know nothing will come of it. Holder not only balked, but laughed. He didn’t maintain the script, so it forced GOP leadership hands.

It’s obvious Team Obama has done the math and determined that between now and the election there is nothing – zero – that can be done to force disclosure of damning documents. Instead they can spin what happens in the Congress and elsewhere as a political witch-hunt, and probably make it work for them. Once the election is over, it’s over.

The GOP got played on this one. That’s been the case since late last year.

  15. rickn8or Says:

Patrick, you mean the GOP got played again.

  16. Bob S. Says:

I strongly suggest calling your Representatives and let them know how you feel about the contempt charges.

They are politicians, the more they hear from their voters, the more likely they are to take action.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
