I pay extra upfront for a Mac so I do not have to pay later in my time.
If you are skilled in something other than computers spending the time to troubleshoot your computer will cost you far more in time than the extra expense of a Mac upfront.
If you are a compugeek then please go ahead and have fun playing with and fixing things, me I’d rather do something that I am good at.

PS I use a Mac because it makes my life easier, I do not like Apple any more than I like Microsoft, I consider them both companies that are run to make people keep paying repeatedly to have them to fix a problem that they created, gives you features you do not want, and forces you to purchase more powerful computers due to the bloating of software. If I was a compugeek I would probably run Linnux or Unix.
