If I understand correctly
Rahm Emanuel got on the TV and begged gangbangers to stop shooting kids. Citing values and magical unicorns. This man run the third largest city in the nation. The message should have been that you would round them up and arrest them. What a puss.

Rounding them up and arresting them would require police officers. If you read the Second City Cop blog, you will note there is a severe shortage of officers. The city can’t afford to hire cops because they had to pay a $1m tribute to CeaseFire. Please pay attention to the news. Sheesh.

Why is it that when a Democrat demands that people put aside partisanship to find a solution, what they really mean is that the other side should give in and agree with the Democrats. Why isn’t it ever the Democrats who are asked to compromise?

That would only work if the threat was credible, which it wouldn’t be.
(JayBob – is that the same “Ceasefire” that is not “Ceasefire Illinois” that Unc posted about here?
Because if so, that’s not so much tribute as maybe-actually-effective and not anti-gun.
Not as nice as cops, but the real reason Chicago has no money is not that particular bit of pocket change.)

Sigivald, I believe you are correct, but I still feel it was like flushing money down the toilet. And the city does that so often, a million here and a mil there; pretty soon you’re talking about some real money…..

Round them up and arrest them? Why, these people are dangerous! Emmanuel can only round up and arrest people who haven’t shown their willingness to shoot people. Like people who want to own a target rifle or pistol in the Chicago city limits, or eat Foi Gras or bigger than 20 oz sodas, or smoke somewhere other than in a single family home with no children present and down wind of all neighbors. It’s far safer to make criminals out of decent people than it is to try to actually catch violent criminals.
